Mamma Mia! It’s Isabellie’s Pizzeria…

For Isabelle’s 6th birthday we decided to roll with a pizza theme – and boy did it rise to the occasion!

The kitchen became a pizza cafè – complete with chef hats and aprons, rolling pins, pizza dough and 16 chefs creating their pizzas to Italian pizzeria music!

Each birthday guest had their own table setting with a chef hat from the 99 cents store (thankfully all the dress-up stuff was just being stocked), a child size apron from Michael’s, a rolling pin from Hobby Lobby and a pizza sauce spreading spoon from Walmart. Stock paper was used for the name cards and chef mustaches on the boys hats. Each girl guest had a big red mum added to their hat. The birthday even girl had a special chef outfit!

When the time came to roll the dough, everyone was excited!! There were puffs of flour, chatter and lots of laughter from excited children.

After spreading their sauce, the kids had lots of toppings to choose from – pepperoni, black olives, ham, bacon – and for our healthy eaters, we had spinach, bell peppers, mushrooms and of course, lots of cheese!! Even the big kids had a great time (oh, and Papa Ortiz fits right in with the chefs)!

Decor was centered around a combination of traditional Italian atmosphere and a twist of modern flare. Thrifty Styling and Anders Ruff have great tutorials for the chef hats used to dress things up.

I was able to purchase small pizza boxes from Mama’s Famous Pizza & Heros that I used to stuff the kids take home gifts in. The adults enjoyed 24″ family size pizza’s from the restaurant while the kids enjoyed their custom made pizza.

“Pass the meatball” was next on the menu for the night after the kids finished decorating their pizzas and the oven was stuffed and baking!

Okay, maybe a little horse play before our game – these guys had to stay focused while rolling all that dough!

After our game and enjoying the final product of their pizza work, dessert pizzas were up! The recipe is to-die-for and if you ask the parents…who were trying to steal the kids’ dessert…they would tell you the same! We pre-rolled and baked the cookies so they’d be ready for the kids to spread the icing and top with fruit. Huge thanks to Banner Boutique for the cute blog post and recipe.

Instead of a pizza themed birthday cake, we decided to go with something a little more girly. E & L Southwest Cakes created a simply delightful “girly” cake for us! Isabelle was thrilled to pieces at the masterpiece…complete with a fondant mirror showing her reflection. Incredibly creative!!

Our “Thank You” take-aways to each birthday guest were packed in cute 12″ pizza box.

We all had a great time! With kids ranging from 2 to 11 years old, my fear of being able to keep everyone interested and excited was quickly diffused when the fun began.

Happy Birthday to Isabelle my sweet and lovely 6 year old!!

A HUGE thanks to my awesome sister-in-law, Hannah, for snapping pictures and helping with all the tedious prep work for the party. You are the best!
